Tamarillo : meeting / crit

Really positive meeting with tamarillo. They are very happy with the concept and idea for the cd and suggested using colours form the video which is some really good advise that I will take forward. We also spoke about the logo and all agreed that it needs to be simpler as it is hard to use with the line and dot and it is effecting the visuals so the logo will now be just type.

Troy set out a plan that at the end of every month starting with january they will relase a new song that we will create the artwork and video for.

We now have a structured plan and time scaled and can look forward to picking everything up in jan

Tamarillo : développement

Cd:

For each single release a promotional CD and video will be created. The cd will represent a visual from each promo video, the above is an example using Killing Time. To add a coherent theme and encompass the spirograph we have developed a way the cd can be interactive by making the promo cd into a Spirograph tool that the person can make their own pattern.
creating something individual to them and adding an way to engage and interact with the CD. It also represents the structure x creativity as the space where you can apply the patter is very structured but the outcome of the spirograph is creative and individual

Face book:

We have creted visuals for the band Facebook and twitter so that they can a coherent visual aesthetic which will in turn make the more recognisable

CRIT : Tamarillo + Looking for trouble + Alternative christmas + Adopta band

Crit :

Questions :

Does the concept of a guitar in a nappy work as an image for representing adopt a band?

Is looking for trouble suitable for the audience?

Does looking for trouble work as a way of promoting hotels?

Which you interact with the Tamarillo CD cover?

Can you see any improvements that could be made in any project?

Possible developments/other products.

Feedback :

Feedback one

– the music video is awesome. So good. Not sure about the hand coming into the picture.
– Spirograph idea is really visually interesting.
– Adopt a band logo is perfect really nice concept.
– The concept of the petty complaints is humorous and engaging.

Feedback two.

– Visuals for the adopt a band is good that not sure how much the concept works without an explanation. Maybe think of a visual which shows how people adopt music into their life not a human.
– Tamarillo has a great concept and visually playful yet structured. CD would be interactive if audience had space to draw their own spirograph but includes some already so they understand what to do. So audience isn't afraid to draw on CD.
– Postcards could be expanded across small stationary pieces more sketches from the firm to create a series.
– Adopt a band logo works well visually but needs to be neater as the first space isn't equal.

Feedback three.

Adopt a band
-Idea of the nappy is interesting, I think with the description and concept of the brief it makes sense, but if that was solely on its own, not sure if I'd know what it was for.
Tamarillo
-Like the idea of this spirograph, concept behind it fits in well with the band and music.
Video is great, idea behind it suits the music and both match together well.
I think the logo lets the branding down. Type used doesn't have the same connection as this spirograph to the music/band and I don't think works with this spirograph that great.
Interactivity with CD is good. Creates way to get people involved with the project.

Feedback four.

Alternative Christmas card.
–Visually looks strong. Straightaway I think there could be a set/series think they would sell really well. Have you tried getting them into shops?
Tamarillo
– Nice use of font choice. Make the type smaller, looks goofy that big. Love the ink idea. Try upping the saturation? Well filmed.

Plan :

The feedback I have recieved has been useful to see areas in which things could be improved. The adopt a band flyer needs addressing as the concept is not coming across as well as I would have liked so we shall adress this and re-do the flyer/shoot again. The typography was commented on for Tamarillo saying that it does not represent the music the same way the Spirograph does when infact it does as it is a very structured typeface that we have created with all angles being the same which represents the 'structured' side of tanarillos music, this has highlighted to me that I will have to explain the concept of the typogrpahy more clearly in future.

The plan now is:
address the adopt a band visuals
Play with how to link the tamarilo typeface and spirograhs more to make a cesinct logo
Continue with looking for trouble

Alternative Christmas : Concept

Concept:

Edward Scissor hands is this film I was allocated along with constraints of image based and colour green. As Edward himself is such an iconic image alone I wanted to use him in my postcard. I then looked at other iconic moments from the film such as when Edward cuts the bushes. I also looked at what could communicate well thorough the use of the colour green. Two moments in the film that encompass the colour green are when Edward is trying to eat a pea with his ‘hands’ and the green hedges that he cuts. I have decided to shape a bush into a snowman to represent Christmas and moments from the film.
